Neither of them mentions Love, Actually, a very popular Christmas movie
Narrative
Helen embarks on a passionate affair with a man who has no idea what her secret identity is. Caught in the crosshairs when her lover falls victim to London’s dangerous underworld, Helen’s employer calls in Sam to protect her. There’s a scene where the characters are discussing their favorite Christmas movies.
This is probably because Keira Knightly stars in both
Graham Norton Highlights I Liked: Cher/Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender/Josh Brolin/Jalen Ngonda (2024). I’m not sure what to make of this one. I watched all six episodes in one day and really enjoyed most of them.
But there was something that felt off
Anything with Keira and Ben Whishaw is always going to be watchable. The writers and producers/directors seemed undecided about what the tone should be. Was it a straight-up political thriller with action?
Still very watchable
Or was it a John Wick-esque actioner with political overtones? It ended up being exactly the middle ground between the two. I think it would have been much better if it had steered away from the ridiculous stuff of John Wick and tried to ground it a bit more in the real world, where there were potential consequences for the actions taken.
