This was quite refreshing for a French comedy, although it’s not the kind I prefer. French comedies usually start out funny and suddenly get serious before the end. No one has a hidden side – Benoît remains weird and cowardly from start to finish.
His brothers are greedy and pure evil
The False Bride has no social graces from start to finish. Except the parents are the same confused rich couple from most French comedies. They were the least interesting because their arcs are completely predictable in this type of movie.
Its future will be a regular Sunday night movie on French television
On the other hand, I’m glad I have an unlimited cinema pass, because cinema ticket prices have gone up so much that I wouldn’t have been happy if I had spent a lot of money on it.
