Narrative
Charles, a retired man, finds a new lease on life when he answers an ad for a private investigator and becomes a mole in an undercover investigation at a retirement home. Michael Schur was inspired to create “A Man On the Inside” after watching the Chilean documentary “The Mole Agent.” He says, “A mole agent”; the documentary is powerful because it makes people feel something remarkably similar, regardless of age, race, or gender, and I would describe that feeling very reductively: “I have to call my mother.” In our show, we tried to do the same thing with tone: is our show ultimately fostering the feeling of wanting to call our mothers?
Tasked with solving a jewel heist, Charles finds himself working undercover and eventually discovers unexpected connections with the strange residents around him
